Individual Therapy

Individual therapy offers a safe space to explore, understand, and develop effective skills to navigate challenges you are experiencing. We examine your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at a pace that is comfortable for you. Sessions are adapted to meet your needs and specific circumstances. Our work is grounded in evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), while also drawing from other therapeutic frameworks to support your goals. We strive to help you gain a better understanding of your thought patterns and behaviors, while also working to manage and alleviate your struggles.

Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, cultural stressors, or feeling stuck, the aim of individual therapy is to help you move forward with greater clarity and confidence. At DC CBT, we believe that therapy is a collaborative process and our goal is to help you feel supported and equipped as you make meaningful changes in your life.

Group Therapy

DC CBT is pleased to offer group therapy sessions. All group therapy sessions are held as in-person appointments. Virtual or hybrid options are not available. Our primary group therapy offering at this time is our Building Social Confidence social anxiety treatment group.

Building Social Confidence Group

The Building Social Confidence (BSC) group is an in-person, mixed gender group available to all adults 18 and older who want to address their social anxiety in a group setting. Sessions will run on Tuesday evenings at the Dupont Circle office.

The BSC group is based off an evidenced-based treatment program for social anxiety. It is a skills-based, experiential group to assist individuals in breaking the cycle of social anxiety that limit their ability to make meaningful social connections. Members will learn cognitive skills to reframe anxious thoughts to make them less threatening, develop a plan to confront anxiety-provoking situations, use session time to practice engaging in social interactions, and engage in out-of-session practice to build on skills outside of group sessions. Group sessions are scheduled to last 12 weeks. It may be possible for group sessions to go beyond 12 sessions if group members collectively determine that they want to pursue additional sessions.

Teletherapy

Teletherapy sessions, also known as telepsychology sessions, provide a way for individuals to receive therapy services without having to commute to the therapist’s office. Teletherapy can provide unique advantages over in-person appointments as we can conduct sessions in your home, or in environments that are familiar or unfamiliar to you. DC CBT provides telepsychology sessions conducted via a HIPAA-secure videoconferencing service for medical and mental health professionals.

We can provide telepsychology sessions to individuals in Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia, as well as people who are in a PSYPACT state. PSYPACT is an interstate compact that facilitates the practice of psychology across state boundaries. Please check the PSYPACT state map to see which jurisdictions are participating states.

Therapy in Japanese

Therapy conducted entirely in Japanese for adults who feel most at ease speaking their native language. Dr. Noguchi is a bilingual, Japanese-American psychologist. He offers culturally attuned CBT for anxiety, depression, and cross-cultural stressors, available in person near Dupont Circle or via secure telehealth.
