About Me

Ryoichi Noguchi, Ph.D.

Hello and thank you for visiting DC Cognitive Behavioral Therapy! I am the founder and owner of DC CBT and a licensed psychologist. I obtained my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Hamilton College, and then my Masters and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Tech.

I have worked at Virginia Tech’s Thomas E. Cook Counseling Center, George Mason University’s Counseling and Psychological Services, and most recently, at the Capital Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy where I spent 8 wonderful years providing individual and group therapy services. I have now established DC Cognitive Behavioral Therapy PLLC (“DC CBT”) to continue providing therapy services in Washington, DC.

My therapy style is a flexible, integrative, and collaborative approach to cognitive behavioral therapy. Flexibility is important as there is no one size fits all solution to an individual’s struggles. While I identify as a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) provider, I integrate other methods to complement CBT. I also believe that you are the expert of your own experiences. While I might bring some psychological and CBT expertise, therapy can only truly be successful when both experts in the room collaborate.

My clinical interests include anxiety, depression, and relationship concerns. I specialize in the treatment of social anxiety and I conduct group therapy for social anxiety. My clinical research interests include treatment of social anxiety and cross-cultural manifestations of anxiety. I am Japanese American and bilingual in Japanese.  日本語でのセラピーをご希望の方はこちらのメールでご連絡ください。

I am licensed as a psychologist in Washington, DC and Virginia, and I also provide telepsychology services to patients in PsyPact states.
