About Me
Ryoichi Noguchi, Ph.D.
Hello and thank you for visiting DC Cognitive Behavioral Therapy! I am the founder and owner of DC CBT and a licensed psychologist in Washington, DC and Virginia.
Background & Experiences
After obtaining my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Hamilton College, I obtained my Masters and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Tech.
Having worked at Virginia Tech’s Thomas E. Cook Counseling Center and then George Mason University’s Counseling and Psychological Services, I often provided psychological services to undergraduate and graduate students. I also developed an extensive knowledge of the demands placed on individuals working within the university system.
Most recently, I spent 8 wonderful years at the Capital Institute for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy where I provided individual and group therapy services to adults in the Dupont Circle area, and across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. I have now established DC Cognitive Behavioral Therapy PLLC (“DC CBT”) to continue providing therapy and psychological services in Washington, DC and the DMV.

Therapy Style
My therapy style is a flexible, integrative, and collaborative approach to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). While I identify as a CBT therapist, I integrate other methods to complement CBT. For instance, as a practitioner of mindfulness, I might recommend incorporating mindfulness into treatment sessions, should that be something of interest to you. Or if it seems like including some additional skills might be appropriate, we might integrate some skills and concepts from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
I believe that you are the expert of your own experiences and value your input and insight. While I might bring some psychological and CBT expertise, therapy can only truly be successful when both experts in the room collaborate.
Specialization
Some of my clinical interests include anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, and relationship concerns. In particular, I specialize in the treatment of social anxiety. Social anxiety treatments are available as individual sessions, as well as through group therapy.
